From Transitioning to BC to TWA to BSL (well, soon)

Hi guys,

I did promise to post an update when I found pictures of my BC/TWA. Well, I found a few and a few of my transitioning hair.

My last relaxer was put in on the 4th January, 2012. I remember the date because my last relaxer before that had been put in in September, 2011 and I was already playing with the idea of going natural from there forth and making that my last relaxer. Before going natural, I didn't retouch my hair so often. It was always a quarterly thing. I never much fancied relaxers and I always wanted to be far gone with my undergrowth (read new natural hair) before I put in another relaxer. So I usually retouched every 4 months. However, after my September 2011 relaxer (my lovely sister {she's going to read this} even went natural around this time), when I had decided that to be my last relaxer, I chickened out. My colleague and friends thought it was the most ridiculous idea. They couldn't understand it. I must admit, it all got to me. So one weekday, 4th January, 2012 (I remember because I really didn't want to but had decided that that would be my 2nd last - whatever that is - relaxer so I needed to start counting from then), after work, my colleague and I went to the salon after work and got relaxers in. It was even Dr. Miracle's, my staple relaxer at the time, that I used. Anyway, I started counting from then. After that relaxer, I decided that was indeed my last relaxer and I started working towards growing out my relaxed ends.

Let me admit to why I transitioned. It was simply because I was scared of what people would think of my looks after it. This is funny now but then, even though it was, I couldn't admit it to anyone. You see, I didn't have a boyfriend at the time. ( ._.). Almost a year. ( ._.) ( ._.). The years were counting. My ovaries were upset! (._. ) (._.)( ._.). Hey! Don't judge me! I asked public opinion (read male opinion because I thought it mattered at the time) what they thought if I had a hair cut. Needless to say I got negative responses. Even from my mum. No one wanted it except for my paddy, my wonderful buddy, Olumide. Most importantly, I asked the one guy I fancied at the time and who seemed to fancy me. Seemed, yes. He was the most vehement about me not getting a hair cut. He said he was never going to speak with me if I did. I knew and know that was ridiculous but honestly, I just couldn't do it after that. Before you preach to me about how I should do what I want for me and forget anybody else's opinion and how if he couldn't like me on a TWA, he wasn't worth it, don't worry. I knew all of that at the time. I was just... I don't know. But I knew.

Funny thing is, I had had a low cut before. Just before I went to the university. Everyone said if suited me just fine and some people kept saying, after I grew my hair out, that they preferred me on short hair.

Well, I transitioned basically because of public opinion. But I itched to have a hair cut. Seriously. I wanted it! I remembered my days of a hair cut and I wanted it back. I knew it was going to suit me. I guess public opinion mattered more.

During my transitioning period, I wore a lot of braids (extensions) just to grow out the hair. Below are too many some transitioning pictures.

Little base natural hair. See my poor edges :(
Just had a wash here. I now used fresh blended aloe vera gel as a leave-in. Bloody thing left my hair with particles that took forever to wash out.

Trademark hairstyle at the time.

As the hair grew longer, the two different textures became really tough to deal with. The relaxed ends were beginning to break seriously. And packing the hair into a pony tail was having a clownish outcome. One mid-summer afternoon (yimu. More like mid-rainy season) in September, after I took out my braids, I was so frustrated that Mr. Fancy or no Mr. Fancy, Vox Pop or no Vox Pop, I wanted a hair cut and I was getting one. Since I live alone and there was no one else to help, so I didn't cut off the valuable natural hair, I went off armed with a scissors to my co-nache friend, Notey's, place and told her to cut the darned relaxed hair off. And you guys, I still looked great!

That was how I stopped transitioning. I know the URL of this blog is no longer appropriate, but I'm too lazy to think up anything else.

So how long have I been natural for? Do I count post relaxer or post-BC? Am I 1 year, 6months gone or 10months gone? Does it even matter? You guys have seen the present length of my hair here though.
This is my hair back in March so it's grown longer now but I just particularly love its look here.
I had some braids put in last Sunday. It's called 30 pieces here. I love it. That should keep my attention off my hair for a while.

I may not post much on my hair for a while. I didn't intend for this blog to be all about my hair. It seems to have taken over. I'd give that a rest for a while.

I try to write about my hair to keep me motivated and focused on my hair journey and taking care of the hair. I don't have any fantastic way of keeping my hair. I just hope the way I keep it is good and keeps the hair healthy.

Part morale of this story? Never let people's opinion decide the choices you make in life. It's just not worth it. It delayed my natural hair journey and made me transition when I never wanted to do that.

Till next time,

Dalu. (Please tell me this is 'goodbye' in Igbo X_x)
Ciao!

Stay Beautiful!

WORDS BURSTING OUT!

There's something in the air. And it has made me really vocal these days.

For those who know me, I am usually a very quiet person. Yes, I do have my moments when I may tend to be very vocal and outspoken but they are usually spontaneous moments and times when I am in my element and in very comfortable, familiar company. I'm that wet blanket in a gathering. Just soaking up information. Never letting any out. I have been taken advantage of one too many times because of this. A few special people have had issues with my nature. For a while, I tried to overcome this many times but to no avail. Recently, I just accepted myself so. I'm just majorly more comfortable not talking much. Well, I'm comfortable until someone questions why I'm being quiet then I try to spit out some incoherent, forced conversation.

However, today, I wondered what happened. I wondered where I went and who this being is who has taken over my flesh and turned its mouth into a chatterbox. I don't even realise it when I just begin to talk and tell you how I am unimpressed with you.

I had some bank transactions to do today so after I was done at the withdrawal bank, I headed to the Deposit bank to pay. After I had stood on the queue in the banking hall for a bit, (today is the last Friday of the month so I could excuse the queue and slow pace of service) I remembered that that particular Bank usually had a Bulk room in its branches. I left the queue and went in search of their Bulk Room. On arriving there, I joined the seated queue - 3 people were ahead of me. After about 5-7 minutes, a young man came towards me and made some ridiculous sign language indicating he needed my pen. So I look at Young Man pointedly and hand him my pen (read biro) with a strict "make sure you return it" PING! After a while, Young Man returns my pen by pointing it straight at me. I took the pen and looked away. Then I was like 'wait a minute!' I couldn't let that pass. Before I knew it, I called Young Man and gave him a lecture of how society is fast losing its good manners and picking up too many bad habits. PING!! I told him about the value and importance of a 'please' and 'thank you' and high-handedly told him I never lose sense of those words because my mum taught me their value (my mum would have been so proud). I further told him how it was not my duty to bring a pen to the bank for him to use so I deserved some courtesy in asking. I didn't even think I didn't have the right. I just said those things. I was glad that he ended it with a 'Sorry'. At least, he remembered the third important word.

Moving on, I was on this queue another 10 minutes when I had another Wait-a-Minute moment. I asked the man beside me "Ahahn! What's happening? This queue isn't moving. Who are the cashiers here?" He showed me one lone cashier who just sat at some point with another man. Apparently, the other man was a customer being attended to. Fine. After a while, the cashier took what seemed to me as a leisurely stroll out of the room. He definitely didn't seem like he was in a hurry or like he knew others were waiting. That was the point when I spoke up. PING!! I saw a woman in a glass stall nearby and asked her what was going on. I questioned their system and let them know I was disappointed. I was just talking. People were staring at me. She told me the cashier was coming. I didn't stop still. Cashier came in and was even telling me "Shebi you just came". To which I replied "Who told you I just came? I've been here for quite a while! Even if I just came. The people I met on the queue are still here. Why is it so? I have so many things I need to do today, lounging in your bank is not one of them. I just came from Bank X and had no troubles and was out in no time! This is the first branch of Bank Z whether in Lagos or otherwise that I have seen to be so distasteful." The woman in the glass stall eventually told me to bring my teller so she can deposit my money for me. Abi now. Seeing as my wahala was too much, abeg, let this troublesome customer just go, let us hear word and continue listening to our Wazobia FM (for real).

Anyways, I got my deposit in. The other cashier man still talked but for every 1 he said, I gave him 20. I couldn't be bothered. Service was done and I was out of there.

As I walked out of the bank to the nearest bus stop, it started occurring to me that what I did back there was so out of character and I started to question why. That was short-lived though. On my way to the busstop, I noticed traffic on the narrow road. As I walked up front, I noticed a bit of chaos. I then realised that a tow truck had towed a car and people were against it and preventing them from moving. Guess who was behind the towing? LASTMA, of course. Before I knew it, this spirit inside this flesh dragged it towards a LASTMA official and I was going "LASTMA, are you not the one that's supposed to be easing the flow of traffic? Why are you the one causing it? Move your crowd off the road and let people go about their businesses!" PING!!! Honestly, I don't know what it is with this spirit. Who sent me to be loudspeaker? Miss Fighter for Causes. I quickly shut up and went to the busstop.

Well, after this, I still entered a bus and challenged the conductor of trying to hold on to my change so I'd forget it. *sigh* When did I become this person?

I'm forced to think it's my job/profession that's only just taking effect. Perhaps it was inevitable? I'm becoming a stereotype. That's the part that makes me cringe the most. You see, I'm a Lawyer. More Barrister than Solicitor until recently. For years, I have on the morning of every weekday preceded my day with a bow and a "May it please the Court". I have been a litigation lawyer for too long for this to not take effect. Start my day with talking, addressing, arguing before a Court then return to spend long hours in an office filled with other litigation lawyers. Talking is my profession.

People used to ask me how I could be a lawyer and be so quiet. I didn't think it mattered. I still don't. The reality is, it's not by how much you say but by the quality of what you say, no matter how little. I must admit though that sometimes, the plenty talk gets you through. I have seen that work to my disadvantage of a few times. But no, it's more of the quality. And again, when you realise that if you don't put behind this your quietness to make a point before a judge, you will be putting someone's case at stake, you will talk.

Or perhaps it is age?

I'm not sure I like this new person. I hope she'd stay more subdued more often and only arise when needed. I like being quiet. So much goes on in the mind of a quiet person. And there's so much more to observe.

Well, there's something in the air. And it has made me vocal.

Of Lazy Sundays and Life's Randomness

1. Alarm goes off at 5am. Awww heck! *snooze*. Old habits died hard, even for alarm clocks.

2. Crawled out of bed at 6am anyways. Hate keeping early morning hair appointments.

3. Full bowels. Need to off-load. What the! There's a mouse in my toilet bowl!!! How on this frigging earth did it get in there?

4. I'm too scared to look at it. I really hate mice. And rats. And moles. Darn all the rodents! Except the rabbits, of course. Rabbit are cute. And the squirrels too. (<_<)

5. FLUSH!

6. There! Empty toilet bowl but for that little pocket of water. I'd rather stare at that.

7. Surprisingly, bowels don't feel pressed anymore. Nah! No sitting on that thing just yet.

8. Shower, play dress up, hit the road. Heading to downtown Ebute-Metta. *hums Banky W's Ebute-metta etta etta eh eh eh!*

9. Braids lady is waiting with her new gigantic plastic eyelashes. I wonder if she sees me. She smiles. I guess she does.

10. 3 ladies work it out on my hair. I love my hairdresser.

11. 3 men afar off talking in loud Yoruba voices about nightcrawling, picking women and what graphics adventures they have together. I'm only concerned about the kids nearby. Hopefully, or not, they don't understand Yoruba.

12. *hums Banky W's Ebute-metta etta etta eh eh eh!*

13. Braids are lovely *skips*. Thanks, lady. Do you see me wave?

14. No electricity. Calls Oyin. She's got electricity. Heaves laptop bag on shoulder. Skips out.

15. OYIN! Moi-moi, gossip, bicker, gossip, eat Indomie, gossip.

16. Had so much Indomie this week. Miss mum's sunday rice. Must make home next weekend.

17. Must head to my tiny flat now. Still haven't finished that proposal. Must change that.

18. Branches market to buy rat gum, rat poison and Sniper. Hit 'em from all corners.

Here's to a Healthy Mane Regimen!

Hi guys,

It occurred to me that from most of the views I get on this blog are from people here for the Natural Hair care posts. Just as a sort of disclaimer, everything I post on my hair is based on what I have found to work for MY hair. Natural hair is so versatile and interesting that most times, there is no one size fits all. You can only borrow people's ideas and try to see if it will work for you. Some of you will see that I try out a couple of stuff on my hair that do not work out and I move on. I urge you to do same. Visit different blogs and try out whatever interests you (but with some caution) and see if it works for you.

That said, I wanted to give my visitors/readers an insight into my hair regimen. Daily or otherwise. I like to keep my regimen very simple. I used to think I'm not very adventurous with a lot of things. So when I find something that works for me, I tend to stick with it and move on. Natural hair has taught me otherwise. Truth is, if you really are curious about natural hair, it's hard not to be a tad adventurous. In fact, making the change from creamy crack to natural hair is a major adventure on its own. Finding a new regimen is an adventure on its own. Having a regular DC mix you use but wanting to try something new is an adventure on its own. So, hard to be a natural hair enthusiast and not be that little bit adventurous.

Still, I like to keep my regimen very simple.

- Co-wash: This works twice a week but my busy work life moved it into weekly. Hey! I work hard! I co-wash with my V05 Moisture Milk Conditioner which I got a while ago and mentioned here. I also detangle during my wash. I do each co-wash in sections of 8 or less (as my hair grows, the number reduces). I usually put in the Conditioner twice and rinse respectively.

- Deep Conditioning: I do this every 2 weeks when I don't have a weave in. My DC mix is usually done at home because I'm generally more trusting of using a mix made of natural foods than anything else and also, there is a dearth of natural hair products in Nigeria. I put in my DC mix in my hair and in sections and then wear a plastic bag (or 2) for about an hour or more, depending on how busy I am. I wash with a shampoo and condition twice after every DC. I also finish with an ACV rinse and/or tea rinse. As the spirit leads.

- Moisture and Seal: I moisturise and seal in the moisture after every wash. I first put in my Profectiv 3-in-1 solution which I use as a leave-in conditioner

then I put on Coconut oil/olive oil (I prefer Coconut oil)

and afterwards, add on a little shea butter.
My mum helps me get these from the local market and she can tell the original product from the altered.

I make sure to massage my scalp with some Castor Oil. Castor Oil is a heavy oil and shouldn't be too concentrated on your hair, lest it weighs it down. Very good for the scalp. Did wonders for my iya iyabo hairline ^_^

I use this oil very sparingly as it took me a long time to lay my hands on this bottle.

- Spritz, Spritz, Spritz!: I try to spritz everyday! Our hair loves and needs moisture. No better moisturiser than water. Just try not to soak your scalp in too much water. If you're like me, you'd just catch a cold if you do. My Spritz bottle contains 80% water, 10% coconut oil and 10% olive oil. The oils help to seal in the moisture once spritzed. I don't have any elaborate spritz bottle. I just use an old Body splash bottle that does the job. Put it in your bag and spritz when you remember. You may not be able to avoid the occasional curious look from strangers or friends when they wonder why you're spraying Body Splash on your hair though. Lol. I even had a friend once return from a trip to the States where he bought me several bottles of Victoria's Secrets Body Splash cos he "knew I love to use this a lot". No, I don't!
Handbag accessory

- Night, moisturise, seal, braid: That's what I do. I moisturise and seal in sections as above. Then I braid the hair and tie on my silk scarf.

- I style in the morning.

Note that in doing all of these, I almost never comb my hair. I do more of finger combing. The only time I tend to comb my hair is when I want to style it. It helps for length retention so there's less breakage.

I want to try my first hot oil treatment soon. Will post on the results.

Everyone should have a regimen. What's yours?

Ciao now!

Stay beautiful.

GREAT GATSBY - A REVIEW

I saw Great Gatsby today. While I have never read the novel (I am a huge believer of always reading the book first before seeing the movie but this was not a novel I could easily come across), I did not go to the cinemas with any delusions.

I know that a good number of movie critics had written this movie short and ridiculed all that pertained to it. But I have always wondered, how does anyone go to see a movie adaptation of a novel and expect it to be just as thrilling as the book? No one has been able to do that thus far. The most any director can do is come close. But he can certainly not produce the excellent effects of the book which your mind and memory have placed such high esteem upon. Why do people still bother trying then?

Great Gatsby is a drama. Following the life of Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), an extremely wealthy man who threw large wild parties in New York before the great Depression all because he was hoping to catch the sights of a woman who he was in love with. The story is told through the narration of Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) who lived next door to Gatsby.

Well, I liked this movie. Perhaps the fact that I had not read the book was a good thing as it gave me an unbiased outlook into the movie. Baz Lurhmann's directing was really quite extravagant with such bright colours and visual effects. The movie was quite bright. Seems Baz put more into the bright scenes than to other detail. The party scenes were most glamorous and exciting. Kind of pulling you in. Tobey Maguire's role was really boring. Hopefully, that was how the story wanted him to be. I like Tobey though. I like that boyish innocent look about him that time and Hollywood have unsuccessfully and thankfully failed to wipe off him.

One thing I particularly loved about this movie was the music. It was a blend of of hip-hop meets pre-depression. 21st century rap and whatnot. And it blended so well with the scenes, it was fun to watch.

I like Leonardo's presence in the movie. Although I got the feeling that this movie spoke more about the Director than of the characters. I don't know how that works but that was the feeling I got. Gatsby's name was called so many times in the movie that 10minutes after I was out of the cinemas, "GATSBY GATSBY GATSBY" was ringing in my head.

Cheers to you too, Gatsby!

Me, I like the movie. Don't mind dem critics. Go see it for yourself and have a good time.

Ciao now!

BANTU KNOTS - UPDATE

Hi guys,

I did promise to give you an update on my bantu knots which I blogged about here. Well, I unravelled today and here's the result:

Meh!

So, I didn't like the result of my bantu knot outs. I don't know. Is it a 4c syndrome for hairstyles to not come out like you see them on youtube? Or to not have your curls hanging in perfect springs on your head? *sigh* I think the fact that my hair is 4c is part of the issue but hey! it's my hair, I'm making it work for me!

I took my big toothed comb and combed/brushed the sides up to make a Mohawk out of my bantu knot curls. I combed the sides up. Not too thoroughly, though. I then held them up with bobby pins. The curls then were sitting on my head. It really wasn't a bad look at the end of the day.
Honestly, I'm fed up of these pictures rotating themselves. Arrgh! (Do please turn your head)

There! I even got someone to tell me I looked beautiful so I guess I did something right with the hair.

PS: Do bantu knots work for your hair?

Stay beautiful!

Seafood stir-fry and Pasta

Since this blog is just about me posting my favourite activities and interests, here's a recipe I just discovered and absolutely love.

I found this recipe off the internet while I was having a bored period. I don't quite remember the link now but when I do, I'd be sure to update. Why I particularly got interested with this recipe is because 1. I love pasta. That's my go-to staple. As tiny as my kitchen is, if you see nothing else  in there, you can be sure to meet some pasta. My father is a pasta fanatic. He passed it on to me. 2. I love seafood too! But not as much of a staple as pasta is to me. I got the Breco Seafood Mix from Shoprite which has squid, calamari rings, shrimp, octopus, etc and it's quite cheap. Just under 800naira.

So, 2 loves and I was ready to try this recipe.

Here's what you need:

Pasta (I used Tagliatelle cos that was what I had on hand)
5 Carrots - skinned and chopped
2 Green pepper - chopped
4 Scotch Bonnet - chopped (You can use the number you desire. I love my food very spicy)
1 Onion - chopped
3 Tomatoes - chopped
Tomato Paste (Original recipe said to use Pasta sauce but I had none at home)
Black Pepper (I used whole. You can use powdered if you wish)
Seasoning (I used Maggi crayfish. Original recipe said Maggi chicken but hey! This is seafood!)
Crushed chilli (very optional)
Powdered Ginger
Powdered Garlic
Salt
Olive oil - 1 tbs
Seafood Mix (I used Breco seafood mix. )

Directions:

I had let the Seafood Mix melt down from the day before by bringing it out of the freezer and putting in the refrigerator. I rinsed it severally and then put in a colander to lose any leftover fluids.
Pour oil in frying pan wok (I don't own a wok. Yet). Let it heat up for a bit then you add some of the onions. Let the onions fry on low heat until it's about transparent. At this point, first add carrots and stir continuously. After about 1 minutes, add in tomatoes, green pepper and scotch bonnet. Continue to stir for about 5 minutes on low heat. Add the remaining onions.
Err... Couldn't quite get to rotate this

Take about a tablespoon of the tomato paste and mix in 1 tablespoon of water to reduce its thick consistency. Stir this to the wok and let cook for another 5 minutes.

At this point, put on a pot of boiling water for the pasta. Add a teaspoon of salt and a dash of olive oil. When boiled, put in the pasta and let cook till soft.

Back to the sauce. Add all dried ingredients (salt inclusive) at this point and stir into the mix. Let cook for 2 minutes then add the Seafood mix.

Ensure you are on low heat when this comes in. Seafood does not exactly like to be cooked on high heat lest it tastes and feels like glue.
I really cannot understand why these pictures are not in the right angle

Cover the point and let simmer for about 5 minutes or as long as you feel it's cooked enough for you to eat. Turn off the burner and let sit.

Drain the pasta into a colander to remove fluid. Serve the sauce on the pasta and it's ready to be devoured.

Bon appetit!

PS: I have a confession to make. That last shot? Well, after I cooked the meal, it looked so good that I gobbled it in no time and forgot to take a picture. I took a second serving and still did not remember. By the time I remembered, it was all gone. Next day, I cooked the same recipe but with one slight difference. I was out of the Seafood mix. I had used up all I had. But I had a small packet of Calamari rings sitting in my freezer! Well, all na seafood. No scam there. I used the Calamari rings instead and made sure I took a picture right before I gobbled this one too all up! You'd fall prey too, I assure you.

Hope you like it!

SQUISH, SQUASH, SPLATTER!!!

Hi, guys. here's more on my hair update.

Yesterday, I wanted to have a DC (Deep Conditioning) and decided to try out something new. Some time ago on twitter, a friend had suggested I try a Banana, avocado mix. Now, usually my routine DC mix is a combo of mayonnaise, egg, honey, coconut/olive oil and/or shea butter. This new mix though was:
Bananas - 4
Avocado - 1
Egg - 1
Honey - 2 tablespoons
Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon

I bought a very ripe, perhaps even overripe avocado. I thought it was going to blend easier. I don't know if that was a mistake. By the time I opened the avocado, it was really yucky and disgusting! I don't like avocado so I wasn't ready for the surprise of this look. I took a picture for your consumption.
VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED! Tehe!

Lighting was poor in my tiny abode so pictures may not be very clear.

I blended the bananas first to be able to get a good paste free from clumps. Even stole a few spoons out of that. Next, I put in the yucky avocado. I tried to use as much as I could. The rest went in the dustbin. I really can't stand that fruit. I hear a lot of nice things about it and how it helps with weight loss. No, thanks. I'd rather exercise. I noticed that after I blended in the avocado, the mix turned brown. I couldn't explain why. Is that supposed to happen? Was the avocado bad? Still, I noticed the mix was really quite think. I added very minimal water to the blend.
Next, I put in the honey, egg and coconut oil. I noticed it was still quite thick and I was glad. I first braided my hair in sections of 8 or more and then proceeded to put in the mix.

This is the point where it starts spiralling downwards.

The thickness was a façade. The mix had no hold! As I put it in my hair, it was splattering everywhere! And before I knew it, once I put in the mix, it already began to turn into water and drip all over me. There was mixture everywhere! I quickly put it in and put on two plastic shower caps. Honestly, I was ready to wash it all out immediately but my brother came visiting and I couldn't leave him behind to go wash my hair. I smelt like bananas and honey. Once he was gone about an hour after, I jumped in the bath.

I noticed there was a pool of liquid already sitting in my shower cap. I first rinsed, then washed once and in sections with my shampoo. I use the Hawaiian Silk Moroccan Argan Oil Hydrating Shampoo (Too many words).
I like it because it's non-sulphate and doesn't leave my hair dry. After which I co-washed twice with my V05 Moisture Silk Conditioner. And then I finished it up an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse to remove build up and clarify my hair and scalp. Need I say I took a vigorous bath afterwards?

I dried up my hair with a towel and then put in my Live-in conditioner. I use a Profectiv 3-in-1 Solution as my leave-in. As an aside, I am yet to see a blog that says what leave-in they use. That was why I was stuck with using this Profectiv. Although it seems it was made for relaxed hair but still... What leave-in do you use by the way?
After the leave-in, I put in coconut oil and sealed with shea butter. I did all of these with my hair in sections. I'm sorry, I didn't take any pictures of that process. I thought to braid it in sections again for the night but instead, I put my hair in bantu knots. I tried by first using my LustraSilk Curl Activator (I must remember to write a post about this) for each knot but after the first knot, I noticed it left my hair feeling dry. Afterwards, I just put some shea butter on my fingers for each knot. I'm still interested in knowing how the knot with the Curl Activator turns out though.
Afterwards, I tied on my silk scarf and went to bed. Mehn, I started at 7pm and ended about 11pm. This natural hair thing is not a small sometin.

About my DC, after I was done with it, I don't think it made my hair any better than my normal mayo mix does. It was okay. My hair was soft afterwards. I just didn't like all the mess it caused. I sure wouldn't be trying it again any time soon.

My bantu knots are still in, I'd post a photo of the knot out when I'm ready to unravel them.

Till next post, Stay Beautiful!

PS: Yes, I did see Fast & Furious 6. To post a review or not is my dilemma. Girls are tired, biko! All I know is buff bald men are not my thing.

PPS: How do I follow blogs o? Especially Toinlicious' blog. That place confuses me.

PPPS: Wouldn't be bad if you followed this here blog, you know ;-)

Olympus Has Fallen - A Review

I saw Olympus Has Fallen at the cinemas at about 1.25pm today. Here's a summary:

The US White House gets ambushed and overtaken in a terrorist attack masterminded by a North Korean-US hating terrorist. The president (Aaron Eckhart) is taken hostage along with the Secretary of State and some admiral and another. A disgraced former presidential guard, Mike Banning (Gerald Butler) found himself trapped in the White House and is the only link to the Pentagon, helps rescue the President's son and is the ultimate saviour of the day.

Ok, my major attraction to this movie was the fact that Morgan Freeman's face was all over the poster (sue me). When I got to the cinemas to see the movie, I saw Gerard Butler on the big screen. Another plus. Hey, I love eye candy! However, I got disappointed with this movie. Do not get me wrong, it is quite interesting. At least, it held my attention till the very end. Only just so heavily clichéd and dripping of such gagging American patriotism. The story was so not original. Let me give you a hint. You know the end of those action movies where the hero kills the bad guy who has set off a bomb that going to exploded in one minute and wipe out the whole of America and the hero has to figure out the code to deactivate the bomb? *sigh* Yes. I'm sorry, Yes.

If your thing is just lots of explosions, gun-totting heroes prancing around your screen and cheesy conversations, look no further. This is your movie.

Further annoying about this movie was how this internal issue of terrorism in the US was going to affect world peace. The US president was taken hostage and in minutes, the Indian, South Korean and Russian governments declared States of Emergency in their respective countries. Seriously?! Talk about huge clouded American egos!

Still, not a bad movie. Good suspense. The scenes of chaos were very dramatic and exciting. It held my attention till the very end. At least, Gerard Butler made it less painful. Hehe! Although I wished Angela Bassett showed a few more appropriate expressions for some scenes such as times of a crisis.

So this is just my opinion, guys. You should see it to form yours too. I hope to go see Fast and Furious 6 tomorrow. Heard a lot of good reviews about it. Should post a review on that too. Till the next post, ciao guys!

Oh Dear! Where were we?

Hullo!

You're going to have to forgive me...maybe? No post since last year! That was not the plan. There is no excuse good enough to explain this away so I'd just apologise to anyone who happened to manage a stop by here most likely with the help of Google than anything else. So, sorry!

So much has happened to my hair! I don't even know where to start. It's grown, it's had its moisturised days, it's had its dry ones, it's experienced some breakage (can that ever stop?), it's suffered a lot of experiments, it's eaten all sorts of foods... I had a BC! Yes! I ended my transitioning journey and just put scissors to mane! I got so frustrated working with two textures and my relaxed locks were experiencing a lot of breakage. Had to end that. Here's what it looks like right now.

Look at that. Not quite sure what to make of that. But it's longer now, no?

Cannot quite find the pictures of my early days after my BC. But we'd have to make do of the records I've got for now. Will upload others later.

This is about 2 or 3 months after my BC. See that little white patch there? No, not the one in the middle of my hair. That's a hair clip. I mean the patch closer to my hairline. Yes, that. Well, thanks to my sister, while she was helping me take out my weave, she mistakenly used the razor blaze to take out all that patch of hair. Eeek! Needless to say I freaked out! E dey pain. Glad the patch's grown back and no longer obvious but I never let her forget it. Another reason why you shouldn't put in weaves (Nah! I don't mean that).

Twist-out gone wrong. Don't try this at home. Ok, well, maybe try it in a better way.

Rock that funky fro!

So there, that's some of my hair story. I promise to blog more often. Promise!

Stay beautiful!
